Care and Maintenance
- Use sand instead of salt for traction on snow and ice. Salt may cause premature wear and spalling and should be avoided. Ice melter products may cause the sealer to delaminate.
- All sealers must be approved by Impressions Group Ottawa. Use of an unapproved sealer can lead to chemical reactions, discoloration, yellowing, delamination and/or other unwanted side effects.
- Brake fluid will remove the sealer and stain the concrete. Leaks in brake lines should be taken care of immediately.
- Gas, oil or other chemical spills on the surface must be cleaned immediately to avoid damaging the surface.
- Repair any fluid leaks on vehicles as soon as you notice them because repetitive spillage on the concrete can cause damage.
- Cleaning of the concrete during the summer can be done with a pressure washer, garden hose or household detergents.
- Do not use solvents for cleaning the concrete as this may adversely affect the sealer.
- Seal annually to ensure longevity of the concrete.
- Do not place items on concrete that may stain or make marks on the surface. These include, but are not limited to potted plants, rubber mats, rusty patio furniture, barbecues that leak grease.
- Leaves or other organic materials left on the surface to decompose may lead to discoloration.
Interlock

We prepare the surface for placement of interlocking stone differently than most other interlock installers. We pour a reinforced concrete base under our interlocking stone projects. This base creates a structural slab that prevents shifting bricks and weeds from poking through the surface, making your project virtually maintenance free. We can also help you create lasting flowerbeds and retaining walls by using concrete as a footing for the walls to eliminate potential shifting of stones.
Jewelstone
Jewelstone can be used on old, damaged concrete to transform it to have a beautiful decorative faux stone finish at a fraction of the cost of replacing the concrete.
